THE SECOND SCULPTURE AWARD REGULATIONS OF THE FOUNDATION CURSOL 2016
1.AIMS
The Cursol Foundation has convoked a sculpture contest in order to promote solidarity and valorization of the Contemporary art.
The contest calls for the selection of utmost 20 sculptures which would compete for a single 3.000 Euros prize of which one third the winner is to donate to any non-profitable entity.
The participants of the Contest would be able to present their works through the presentation of their portfolios in the facilities provided by the Cursol Foundation.
The winner ceremony, inauguration of the group exhibition and the purchase of the selected sculptures will take place in the Mercado Colón of Valencia, Spain (16, Jorge Juan St., City of Valencia, ZIP 46004) from October, 17th to November 6th 2016.
2. ADMISSION CRITERIA
The Contest is international and available to all artists over the age of 18. The official languages of the Contest are Spanish and English.
The subject matter of the works is “solidarity”.
Each artist is allowed to exhibit two sculptures. The sculpture technique, used material and brackets are of the free election. The maximal sculpture proportions are 80x80x80 cm and the minimum ones are 20x20x20 cm and the maximum weight allowed would be 80 kilograms.
3. CONDITIONS AND MODALITY OF PARTICIPATION
The artist interested in the Contest can sign in on line from April 5th till July 10th 2016 in the http://cursol.org/form/solidarity_sculture_form.html where they can gain access to the application form and attach the photos of their works.
4. JURY AND SELECTION
The selection of the sculptures will be brought about by the jury formed at least of 4 members selected among distinguished people in the areas of Fine Arts, Sculpture and the Culture at large. The President of the Jury will be voted by its members to whom will be assigned a Secretary, representative of the Cursol Foundation.
The Jury decision will be announced on October 20th 2016 at 8 p.m. in a public event which will take place in the Mercado Colón of Valencia, Spain (16 Jorge Juan St., ZIP 46004 Valencia) and will be followed by the opening of the group exhibition.
The jury decisions are unappealable and unquestionable.
From the total of sculptures submitted to the contest, the jury will select 15 or 20. In the case the artists submit two works, only one of them will be selected.
After the final selection of the sculptures submitted to the Contest, the shipping of the works will be required in order to organize the group exhibition. All exhibited sculptures, except the prized one, will be able for purchase all the time the exhibition stays open.
The Cursol Foundation will not participate or transact in any way in the sale of any sculpture, neither will receive any percentage or commission of possible sale of any of them. The Cursol Foundation will exclusively act as an informative linkage between possible buyer and artist providing a phone number or an e-mail address.
The shipping expenses as well as the expenses of transportation of sculptures after the closing of the exhibition will be charged on the participants.
5. RECEIVING AND COLLECTING OF SCULPTURES
The receiving of selected sculptures will be carried out in the Cursol Foundation headquarters (13, 1a Cirilo Amorós St., ZIP 46004 Valencia), from October 3th 2016 till October, 7th 2016 from 10.00 till 14.00 hours. In the case the selected sculpture is not received in the perfect shape during the indicated period or it does not satisfy established conditions determined by the regulations, it will be automatically excluded from the Contest. The shipping expenses of the sculptures will be charged on the artists.
The collecting of selected sculptures will be carried out in the Cursol Foundation headquarters (13, 1a Cirilo Amorós St., ZIP 46004 Valencia), from November 7th 2016 till November 11th 2016, from 10.00 to 14.00 hours. In the case a sculpture was not collected in the established time limits, the Cursol Foundation assumes the responsibility to ship the item to the artist on its own expenses by courier service.
6. AWARD
Award: 3000,00 Euros. A one third of the prize money (e.g. 1000 Euros), the winner is to destine it to an unprofitable entity, legally founded with currently running some sort of solidarity project. The Cursol Foundation assumes the responsibility to transfer this amount to the entity designated by the winner.
On October 20th the awarded artist is to fill and sign a document of irrevocable commitment in which he is to designate the entity to which he is to donate the amount of 1000 Euros, the bank account (IBAN) of the entity, and to specify the solidarity project of the entity etc.
The prize will be subjected to withholding tax in accordance with the provisions of the law.
The awarded sculpture is to be owned by the Cursol Foundation which also retains the rights, among others, of distribution, reproduction and public advertisement of the awarded sculpture.
7. PROMOTING THE SCULPTURES
The Cursol Foundation assumes the responsibility of promotional material and of publishing an on line and paperback catalogue of both the awarded and selected sculptures.
8. REPRESENTATION OF THE PORTFOLIOS
The artists are to display the portfolio of their works to the Foundation which will bring about the list of selected works and will also provide them with facilities where they would be able to present it to them.
All the participants of the contest are able to present their portfolios. The admission is unlimited. There is no inscription fee.
The time limit of the representation is to be 15 minutes and includes 10 to 15 images of the artist´s works as well as condensed relevant information about them such as the technical data, biography, curriculum etc.
During the August of 2016 the Cursol Foundation will inform the artists about location and dates (which will be within the time limits of the group exhibition) the viewing of the portfolios will take place.
9. RESPONSIBILITY AND SECURITY
The Cursol Foundation as well as the Mercado Colón, although prepared to assure the utmost security and safekeeping of the sculptures, decline any responsibility in the case of robbery, arson or damage of any kind of the sculptures which might occur throughout different periods of the Contest. Any kind of security request has to be signed by the author her or himself.
10. THE REGULATIONS ACCEPTANCE
The acceptance of these regulations implies the artist´s permission to transfer to the Cursol Foundation the rights of reproduction through any media and through unlimited period of time of the images of the selected and exhibited sculptures, making possible their release and diffusion.
The participation in the II issue of the Solidarity Sculpture Award of Cursol Fundation 2016 purports the full acceptance of the regulations and the complete approval of any decision of the Jury.

- The group exhibition will stay opened: 17.10.16-06.11.16 in the Mercado Colón.
- The collecting of sculptures: 07.11.16-11.11.16 from 10 to 14h in the headquarters of the Cursol Foundation.
